This week, Jackson and I had a lot of fun and stayed busy. The weather has finally warmed-up and it is lighter out for more hours of the day which motivated some impromptu trips to the town centre. Jackson also had a delightful little play date with his two pals, Thomas and Ralph.
Jackson hasn't had to experience sharing thus far, but it happened this week. And, I had a brand new 'mom feeling' that hit hard.
I'll set the scene: Jackson was playing nicely with a toy that he chose himself. He was smiling and making happy noises. Then, in an instant, the toy was snatched away and Jackson was left toyless, but he was still smiling. Of course babies can't be judged for not sharing; however, knowing this didn't stop my internal flare-up of injustice. I felt so bad for my little baby and the fact that he didn't have the means of getting the toy back for himself made me feel a physical pang of sympathy--he was literally just lying on the floor and once an object is out of his line of sight, it's non-existent to him.
A similar incident happened at Play Town. I was just about to put Jackson on a ride-on toy, and then an emphatic two-year-old girl stepped between the toy and us and said, "No!" She then jumped on while we chose another toy. Again, I felt bad that Jackson's fun was interrupted.
When Jackson is old enough to understand, we will have to begin teaching sharing. For now, he doesn't seem too damaged or affected in the slightest so as long as he keeps smiling, I will too.
By the way, I passed my theory test today so I'm one step closer to getting my U.K. driving licence!
Testing his sitting skills and having lots of fun
Playing in his very own ball pit
Ridin' a motorcycle at Play Town
Sneaking toward the window and playing with the curtains
Caught you, Jackson!
Developmental updates: Jackson now weighs 18 pounds 15 ounces. He said, "Hi," on many occasions this week and responded to us when we said it to him first. Jackson also waved a couple of times when he said, "Hi." This week he continued teething, but there are still no signs of any teeth, yet. Although Jackson isn't crawling, he has found a way of scooting in reverse on his back around the living room.
If you see Sammie Miles Davis, Jr. and Bella, give them my love.
